Diablo III Delayed Until “Early 2012”

Any Blizzard fan pretty much expects it when the company announces a delayed release of one of their iconic video games. Today in a press release concerning Diablo III entitled “Hell Freezes Over,”  Blizzard did just that.

“With every game we make, the temptation is always very strong to launch as soon as possible. However, we didn’t put so many years of work into Diablo III to release a game that was almost ready,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment.

However, there is an upside to this announcement! Blizzard began their public closed beta for Diablo III September 20th which will now be extended indefinitely to gather more feedback to ultimately better the game. This means if you have a Battle.net account of any kind and have not opted in for the Diablo III beta, you better do it now as they will most likely be adding more participants.

“The beta test is going very well, and we look forward to making the most of the extra time we’re taking to deliver an experience that lives up to our vision for the game and the expectations of our players. Next year is going to be an incredibly busy one for Blizzard, and we hope an incredibly fun one for Blizzard gamers.”

No announcement has been made concerning an exact date of release or how long the beta will be extended but more information is sure to come. For everything Diablo III visit the official Diablo III website.

Do you think it’s a good thing that Blizzard decided to delay the game or do you think it’s total bs? Let me know in the comments section!
